The Abia State governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, flagged off the construction and reconstruction of major roads in Aba, the commercial city of the state.
The roads are; Obohia – Ohuru – Obeaja- Osusu Aku – Aba Road, connecting Ukwa East, Ugwunagbo and Aba South Local Government Areas.
Flagging off the road construction at Ohuru Ndoki, Governor Ikpeazu said that the strategic roads will give relief to the three LGA’S, adding that the construction which takes off from Obohia-Ohuru, traverses some parts of Ugwunagbo and terminates at Ngwa Road, in Aba South LGA, will be pursued with the urgency it deserves to ensure its early completion.
He called on members of the communities to own the project and protect the working materials, also stressed the need for the youths to cooperate with the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project.
Also speaking, the PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere affirmed that the Obohia road is very strategic as it links up Ukwa East, Ugwunagbo and Aba South LGA’s. He described the project as one of the best things that will happen to the communities.
Earlier, the Governor paid homage to the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Ohuru Ndoki Community in Ukwa East LGA, Eze Obinna Nwagbara.
Eze Nwagbara thanked the governor for flagging off the road construction, noting that the road has remained deplorable since the time of Late Sam Mbakwe, as efforts to fix it have not yielded result.
