Coach John Obuh Unveils His Plans For Abia Warriors FC | WATCH VIDEO
The newly appointed Chairman of the Abia Warriors Football Club, Coach John Obuh, has unveiled his success plans for the team.
Before listing his plans for the club during a press conference that held at the Club’s secretariat in Umuahia on Tuesday , he revealed that he has beefed up the team with new coaching crew and that the team is at the moment in Uyo for their pre season training. Obuh who is a former Flying Eagles Coach, then hinted that efforts are underway to set up a junior team that would be trained to comfortably take over from the senior players of the club.
According to the chairman, the junior club will strictly be for U21 players, who will serve as the second team of the club and will also save the club the troubles of looking outside to recruit players.
“I want to make sure that in Abia warriors, there should be a replacement of the senior team from the junior team. Am looking forward to the possibility of having at least players that will play in the second team; the team B, not more than 21 years.
“We have to work towards making sure that they are empowered, and they are paid a certain amount of money to at least feed themselves. I just need about twenty players for a second team; one goal keeper and the other will be keeping with the senior team, they will make two goalkeepers but one will always train with the senior team and am going to register them for the FA Cup and try to look for games for them so that we will not be having this issue of if we want to recruit players for the senior team, we will start looking from outside, at least at the end of every season, we should be able to have five players from the junior team into the senior team” Obuh said.
He also hinted on his plan to set up a female team of the Abia Warriors Football club, in line with the rules of FIFA.
“we are also looking at raising a female team because that is the condition from FIFA that every NPFL must have a female team” he stated.
Obuh added that he also plans to set up U15 team; “that is the academy cadet teams in case of La Liga games”.
“All these things are finance consuming, but am sure that if we can start gradually we will be able to meet up but be rest assured that we are going to have a junior team that will be able to replace the outgoing senior team at any point in time” Coach Obuh added.
Speaking further, Obuh revealed that he has increased the home and away match bonuses of the players in less than a month of coming into office.
Coach Obuh explained that he increased the bonuses of the players to boost their winning spirit and also encourage them to win trophies.
“I told them, if you go and win, you’ll get about N100,000 each but if you play and draw, you will pay the club N40,000 each” coach John Obuh said.
He appreciated the Executive governor of Abia state, Dr Alex Otti for finding him worthy to be the chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, assuring that he will bring in his wealth of experience garnered over the years to push the team to success.
