The dreaded leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, is reportedly dead following an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

ISWAP fighters, led by its commander, Bana Duguri, stormed the Sambisa hideout of Boko Haram on Wednesday, May 19.
According to reports Shekau in a bid not to be captured alive, committed suicide by blowing up himself.
Although no official statement has been released, report says the Nigerian military and intelligence agencies are in the know of the development.
A security report obtained from Vanguard said;
“Unconfirmed source reported that the leader of JAS Abubakar shekau was dethroned and killed by ISWAP and they have taken over the entire sambisa forest.
“With these development ISWAP are more equipped and funded than JAS. So their mode of operation will change, and there is likely going to experience frequent attacks around Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, Biu LGA’S and part of Adamawa.
“All humanitarians around the axis should be security conscious and be very vigilant.”
Up until now, there have been series of reports claiming that Shekau has been killed but he resurfaces days later.
