Zainab Ado-Bayero, daughter of the late Emir of Kano, has issued an urgent plea to Governor Alex Otti and Emir Sanusi II to intervene in her eviction from a Lagos hotel. Struggling with access to her father’s estate, she calls for immediate support.
In a distressing appeal, Zainab Jummai Ado-Bayero, daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti and the 16th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, to intervene and prevent her eviction from a Lagos hotel.
As reported by The Guardian, Bayero revealed that since her father’s passing, she and her siblings have been denied access to their father’s estate and inheritance. Despite efforts to seek support from influential figures like the late Maitama Sule, Shehu Idris, and Tony Momoh, they have met with no success.
“We tried to plead with notable men whom our father would have wanted to be our father figures, to get us a home and a business, but nothing has happened. These men included the late Maitama Sule, the late Shehu Idris, and Tony Momoh, my mum’s uncle, but no respite yet,” Zainab lamented.
Bayero further explained that her mother and brother have been staying at Morning Side Suites for the past two months, struggling to settle the bills. On June 24, 2024, the hotel’s general manager demanded they vacate the premises, even involving the police.
“The general manager of the hotel asked us to vacate yesterday, June 24, 2024. They came with police to evict us, but we are still begging them,” she said.
She urgently called on Governor Alex Otti to intervene. “I need Alex Otti to intervene in this situation. I know as a father he wouldn’t bear our eviction. I have tried to get to him by sending some of his staff members like J. Martins but got no response.”
Highlighting the dire consequences of her father’s death, Zainab expressed hope for a positive response from Otti and also sought intervention from the current Emir of Kano, Sanusi II, and the Governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf.
“The death of my father put us in danger. I hope I get a positive response from Otti. The current Emir of Kano is also aware of our predicament. I pray for peace in Kano State and hope that Governor Abba Yusuf also intervenes in this matter because we need help.”
Zainab’s heartfelt plea underscores the severe challenges she and her family face, calling for immediate support from influential leaders to resolve their housing crisis and access their rightful inheritance.
