One Mr Ikechi Charles has claimed that he became impotent and can no longer discharge his duties as a man after some Policemen beat him up in Aba.
Mr Ikechi said this today, when he appeared before the Abia State panel of Inquiry, as a PW3 in the matter between late Chibuisi Okameme and inspector Stanley Azu.
Recall AF-NEWS’ report on late Chibuisi, a pump attendant who was shot dead by one inspector Stanley Azu in front of his work place, Green-mark filling station Aba on April 5, 2020.
Mr Ikechi, the owner of the Lexus car that was blocked by the police on the said day, narrated his encounter with the police to the panel .
He said; “on April 3, 2020, I was sick and I went to the hospital where I was diagnosed of , increase in sugar level and high blood pressure. I was given drugs and infusion. After that day, I called for the hospital bill. I requested to be discharged so I can continue treatment from home as the bill was too much.
” I was discharged. The doctor told me to take enough fruits.
” On the day the incident happened, Sunday, April 5, 2020 I went back to the hospital on appointment.
” After my appointment, I was driving home, I got some fruits with drugs, I met two sets of Policemen who stopped me, asking where I was going because there was lockdown, I told them I was coming from the hospital, showed them the cannular I had, those sets of police officers asked me to go”.
Ikechi said he drove to a lonely road known for its nature of breeding car snatchers where he saw a mini bus approaching him.
” In that bus, I saw heads of guns and some men inside, I didn’t know they were policemen because they were not putting on their uniform.
” I was afraid, thinking they were bad people, I zoomed off on reverse till I got to the road where I saw people and also the filling station.
” I stopped there. Those men who were still chasing me, caught up with me . They didn’t ask me anything , they started beating me up and hitting me with guns on my waist and head”
The witness said he knew they were policemen when an army officer approached the scene after one of the policemen, Stanley Azu, shot dead Chibuisi Okameme who was begging them to pardon him.
He also alleged that the policemen ran away but we’re caught by him with the army officer .
” When they shot him, they wanted to run away but an army officer threatened that if they try to run, that he will shoot them.
” The deceased was put into my car, the Policemen asked me to move to the hospital that they will follow.
” The Policemen escaped but we later found them. When we saw them running, the army officer asked me to block their car, which I did.
” we all drove to Abia state teaching hospital Aba. Because of the beating and injuries, I fell down and was admitted”
“The police called me on phone to come, I told them I was receiving treatment, they told me that the pump attendant (Chibuisi Okameme) had died”.
He also told the court that he developed erectile dysfunction as a result of the beatings the police gave him.
According to Ikechi, the impotency has affected him and his spouse which made him to seek for medical help but non is yet to yield a positive result.
” My manhood is no longer working after the police beat me. Even my waist joint got detached and I am receiving traditional bone treatment to correct it.
” Since that day, I have been going from one hospital to another, taking both English and traditional medicine to make me regain my glory.
” Recently, I was directed to a hospital at Enugu, that is where I came from this morning” Mr Ikechi bitterly expressed .
