One Amarachi Oleka , a trader, native of Amaraka Ahiara Ahiazu Mbaise, has told the Abia State judicial Panel how men from Abia State Police command brutalized woman until she wet herself.
AF-NEWS had reported that One Mrs. Olachi Nwugo, chief legal officer of INEC, Abia State, was allegedly brutalized by Abia State government’s dispatch riders.
The panel continued it’s hearing on the matter today, March, 9, having Amarachi Oleka as PW2.
In her evidence, the Witness told the panel that she was in her shop on the said day, when she saw people running away.
” I was in my shop, when I saw villagers running, I locked my shop and went down to our old road where the incident happened.
“I saw some policemen , beating a woman . They hit her with their gun, kicked her into the gutter .
” The Policemen hit this woman until she urinated on herself.
” People were asking the Policemen including myself, what the woman did, but they didn’t respond.
” The vehicle the police had was inscripted Abia State.
“When the Policemen saw more villagers gathering, they started shooting in the air and we all ran away.
“It was when the police left that we came back”.
Amarachi further told the panel that she took the petitioner, whom she got to know for the first time, Mrs. Olachi Nwugo to her house where she cleaned her up, gave her a new clothe and applied hot water and Shea butter on her swollen legs.
” The petitioner was so down. It was when she got herself a bit, that I escorted her out”.
During cross examination, the respondent’s counsel, CC Nwaobilor, inquired from the PW2 if it was still the police who fired shots into the petitioner’s car tyres, she said;
“I don’t know, I didn’t see them shooting, it was when we came back to the scene that I saw that the woman’s tyres has been busted .
“Children were playing with the bullets on the ground” Amarachi said.
CC Nwaobilor inquired from the witness what caused the incident , she said she does not know, as she met the police beating the woman and the policemen never responded to their questions .
