The Asaba International is set to resume domestic flight operations this week.This was made known to newsmen on Thursday August 13th 2020 by the Special Director ,Asaba International Airport, Delta State Mr Austin Ayemidejor. The Asaba International Airport Operator said discussions has been on with aviation stakeholders on modalities to ensure the reopening of the Airport.
Mr Austin Ayemidejor said,the airport has been given green light by the Aviation Authorities haven complied with the guidelines provided by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to resume flight operations.
While responding to questions on what passengers should expect as the Airport is set to resume operations, Ayemidejor said there would certain be changes in line with the new normal occasioned by the COVID-19,for instance passengers are expected to wash and sanitize their hands before boarding flights ,and there will be compulsory use of facemask,he said.
Ayemidejor also stated that VIPs will not be allowed into the halls with their non travelling aides ,he said this guideline became necessary in order to avoid crowding. He said all over the world ,most VIPs and even Nigerians who travel abroad carry their luggage’s by themselves without been assisted.
The Asaba international Airport boss also muted plans by the Airport to begin International flight operations in no distant future.
