Abia Minority Whip Assured Isu Community of Lasting Peace

The Minority Whip/member representing Arochukwu State constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Onyekwere Mike Ukoha, has assured the people of Isu community, in Arochukwu LGA, that soon, the community, will experience lasting peace with their neighbors.

The lawmaker, who gave the assurance on Thursday, June 25th, 2020, at Isu community, during the delivery of relief materials to them by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), explained that talk is ongoing, to ensure that there is peace and normalcy in the community.

The Minority Whip, further hinted that with the caliber of persons, such as the Senator representing Abia North, in the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia federal constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole and himself, there will be a joint efforts to bring peace in the area.

Hon. Dr. Ukoha, revealed that with the recent meeting between the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, and some lawmakers in the Cross River State House of Assembly and that Abia State House of Assembly, the crises between Isu community and their neighboring Ukwa/Utuma clans, will be a thing of the past.

He used the medium to thank Hon. Uko Nkole, for moving a motion on the floor of the Green Chambers, calling on the Federal government to intervene in the Isu matter and urged him not to relent.

Speaking at the event, the Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who was represented on the occasion, by Rev. Jemima Ola Kalu, thanked Hon. Uko Nkole, and NEMA officials.

He promised to do everything within his powers, to ensure that peace finally return to the area.

Continuing, the Senator, explained that already, his office has started reaching out to the National Boundary Commission (NBC), to see ways the disputed area could be delineated for peace to reign.

On his part, the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon. Uko Nkole, thanked God that a motion of urgent National importance he moved on the floor of the National Assembly, is yielding positive result.

Hon. Nkole, appreciated again Mr. President, Mr. Speaker, his colleagues and NEMA for their cooperation in giving effect to the prayer regarding the palliatives for the Internally Displaced Constituents affected by the boundary clash.

According to him, “the crisis is a major concern to the Governor as he has also personally taken the matter to his Cross Rivers State counterpart for the amicable resolution of the conflict.”

In addition, Hon. Nkole expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor of Abia State Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the Senate Chief Whip and the Senator Representing Abia North, Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the member representing Arochukwu State constituency, Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Mike Ukoha, as well as the Transition Committee Chairman, Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Emmanuel Kanu, the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Ezinne Grace Okorie and other stakeholders for their efforts in restoring peace and orderliness among the conflicting parties.

Responding, the Eze Obieze of Isu, Eze Mortimor Kalu Ogbonnaya, expressed gratitude to Hon. Uko Nkole, Hon. Mike Ukoha and NEMA officials, for providing the relief materials to them and prayed God to bless them.

Highlight at the occasion, was the delivery of the materials to community, by the NEMA officials and the lawmakers.
