Abia State frontline governorship aspirant, Onyekwere Akym Uche ‘OAU’ has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and pitch his tent with Young Progressive Party (YPP), while assuring Abians that his governorship aspiration means hope for the people and a greater future.
The formal declaration which took place in his country home in Amaba, Isuikwuato Local Government Area on 29th April 2022, saw supporters and party faithful’s trooping out to support the youngest governorship aspirant in Abia State.
While interacting with supporters after the formal registration and other party modalities, Onyekwere Akym Uche revealed that his desire to serve as Governor of Abia State was motivated by the pain and challenges he is seeing Abians go through every day.
“Abians are going through a lot of hardship due to bad leadership and corruption. Civil servants and pensioners are owed backlog of unpaid salaries, road infrastructure is miserable, health sector is collapsed, things are generally bad. This is what motivated me to offer myself to serve my people, so that we can change the dynamics, bring back hope to the people, improve on all infrastructures, pay salaries as at when due and grow the economy of the state”
“As governor I will deplore all state funds in adding value to the state. We will show Abians the milestones, the plans and the objectives of my government so that they can follow in monitoring government activities and assessing the progress of the state together”
“I will not be a ruler, I will be a servant leader who will work with the right people, including taking advantage of my foreign expert contacts to build our state. We will bring in up to date equipment’s and experts into our health sector so that Abians will receive proper diagnoses and proper treatment”
“The agriculture sector will witness massive growth because we will import the Israeli agricultural technology and experts to help train our farmers, while our farmers will in turn implement the new skills with new equipment’s government will acquire to improve food production both for local consumption and export”
Onyekwere assured his supporters that the time to rescue Abia State from the hands of bad leaders is now and that everyone of them is needed if this will be achieved. He urged them to immediately join YPP and to make sure they all get their PVCs ready for 2023 election.
While speaking, the YPP state chairman Uluocha Nelcinn Chimex stated that YPP will take over Abia State government house come 2023. He urged everyone to join the party and make sure they support Onyekwere Akym Uche because he represents the hope Abians are looking for.
