With the recent signing into Law of the Abians in Diaspora Commission, by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, it’s impact to the people, has already started yielding result.
The sponsor of the Bill and member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, added another feat to his numerous achievements as he partners with Arochukwu Women in Diaspora, to empower their women at home with some financial assistance to support their businesses.
Speaking at Arochukwu Civic center Oror, Hon. Ukoha, to the benefiting women, to ensure they make judicious use of the money the Women in Diaspora are contributing, for the betterment of their businesses.
He further reminded them that the idea of Aro Women in Diaspora, was to offer the money as loan at no interest rate in order to help empower those who will be benefiting in the nearest future.
The Lawmaker thanked Aro Women in Diaspora especially the coordinators -Adaukwu Cordelia Okereke and Adaukwu Alaezi Dike – for remembering their folks at home, through empowerment, stressing that the Abians in Diaspora Commission Bill he sponsored, which has been signed into Law by Governor Ikpeazu, has already started yielding positive results.
He used the opportunity to laud the wife of the Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, for her numerous women empowerment programs, expressing hope that she will join hands with Aros in Diaspora in partnership to further empower the women and give them a sense of belonging.
On her part, a stakeholder in Arochukwu, Barr. Mrs. Carol Dike-Okorafor, lauded Aro Women in Diaspora for their numerous interventions and for choosing to empower the women at home in their businesses.
She hinted that the loan from the women at no interest rate, will go a long way to motivate benefiting ones to work hard so that others can benefit.
Contributing, some of the beneficiaries, such as Mrs. Nwannediya Asi, Philomena Okoro and Grace Okafor thanked their women in Diaspora for their efforts, stating that the loan at no interest rate, will help them in their various businesses.
They also expressed delight in their representative, Hon. Ukoha, for his continuous support and love for women in his constituency and prayed God to continue to bless him.
