“Beware Of Sycophants; They Have Ruined Past Abia Governors. – Abaribe To Otti | WATCH VIDEO
The Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has advised the Executive governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, not to surround himself with sycophants who will only sing his praises and end up ruining his government with their bad advises.
Abaribe gave the advise while featuring on Love FM Programme “Heroes Of Our Democracy” on Tuesday.
The senator who was a deputy governor of the State encouraged Governor Otti not to tow the path of previous leaders of the state, rather create positive impact by affecting the lives of Abians and various sectors including the health and education.
He opined that one of the problems of the state is that greedy people had occupied the hems of affairs in the state and are only bent on looting the commonwealth of the people.
Abaribe, added that Alex Otti is already a made man and therefore does not need Abia’s money, however, “we are going to be watching the governor and see whether he is going to tow the path of the old or he is going to carve his own part”.

Abaribe who was nominated as a Hero of Democracy said;
“Beware of sycophants; they have ruined almost every governor in this state from the time of Orji Uzor. In Orji Uzor’s time, It got to the ridiculous extent that when we leave a function and we retire to the government house with him and you leave, people will go back to him and say oga, look at this man, he doesn’t have respect for you, he could not even wait for you to go up to sleep before he can go.
This is how ridiculous it is; that is what kills government. We will be in a function, and he will make a grammatical error, and when I come to speak and I don’t make one, he will say “he has come to show people that he went to school before or beyond me’. Those little things continue to build until they create friends versus enemies. Some people will come to see the governor, and they will say, “he didn’t even bend down to greet the governor; some people will come and lie down on the ground and they will say ‘these are the people who are very loyal’; all of a sudden in Abia state, we had ‘loyalties’ and non loyalties.
People who had their own dignity will come and want to tell the governor this is this or that and they will tell him don’t mind him, these are people who are not loyal to you. They are just coming to destroy your government, and then the governor, if he is not very avast to the workings of these sycophants around him, will play according to that. Today I am good friends with Orji Uzor Kalu we are together in the National Assembly.”
Speaking on the expectations on governor Otti, Abaribe added,
“he can make Abians smile by making sure that the hospitals are functional, our children are well trained and they can move into the new age and the schools are well maintained”.
“Dr Alex Otti is a rich man already, he doesn’t need Abia money. Part of the problem we have in Abia is greed. People want to steal the commonwealth of our people. What will determine Dr Alex Otti is how he impacted on the people’s lives and not the number of vehicles he rides”.
