The Federal Government has released N93.47 million through the Abia state cash transfer unit for payment to about 10,000 benefitting households in the state.
This according to report, is coming after an initial payment of N540 million was paid out last year to the same benefitting households.
The State Focal person, Social Investment Programme, Chinenye Nwaogu said that Abia has always been in the lead among states in implementing the national social investment programme which ejects over N800 million monthly into the state’s economy, and therefore enjoined all stakeholders who have roles to play in the programme implementation to put more effort to ensure Abians maximise the benefits the programme offers.
He assured that the Abia SIP office in coming months, will organize a stakeholders summit , to give special recognitions to persons and offices that have supported the SIP in the state for posterity purposes.
Mr Nwaogu charged all beneficiaries of the Social Investment Programme to make reasonable use of the funds while appreciating the wife of the governor,Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu for her roles in ensuring SIP’s success in the state and also ,those who has begun some forms of entrepreneurship activities .
Report says that the payment will flag off on Monday January 25 2021.
