Following the resignation of Hon. Acho Obioma (Chomen) as the factional chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abia State, the party has moved to fill the vacuum.
Stakeholders of the party comprising of the 17 Local Government Area Chairmen, and others in a press conference held at the Secretariat at Azikiwe Umuahia, passed a vote of confidence on Hon. Goldie Wabara as the Acting Chairman.
Hon. John Ikechukwu Okorie, the Chairman, Arochukwu LGA who doubles as the head of all chairmen, moved the motion for a vote of confidence on Wabara.
The motion was seconded by Hon. Ahaoma Innocent Omeonu, the state financial secretary while the house supported with a voice vote, adopting Hon Goldie Wabara as the Acting Chairman of the faction.
Responding, Wabara appreciated the stakeholders for passing a vote of confidence on him, assuring that he will not disappoint the party.
He maintained that the faction remains the authentic Abia APC.
Recall that Wabara was the deputy chairman before Acho Obioma resigned.
His resignation came on the heels of controversies that surrounds the May 26 party Guber primaries.
All Facts Newspaper had reported that APC factional leader, High Chief Ikechi Emenike was declared winner in the aftermath of the indirect election held at Chisco park.
On the other hand, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah was also declared winner from the direct Guber primaries.
Swiftly, a high court sitting in Umuahia upheld that Ikechi Emenike remains a suspended member of the party which was subsequently overruled by another court.
In the meantime, Chomen has defected to Labour party.
