The Vice Chancellor, University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, has described the bandits attack on the institution as “too close home”.
Armed bandits had on Tuesday, November 2, invaded the senior staff quarters of the institution, abducting 6 persons including professors and their children.
In a message to the university community, Na’Allah assured that the management and security agencies will do all it take for the safe return of the abductees.
The VC in a statement titled;
“BANDITS ATTACK: THE VICE-CHANCELLOR’S MESSAGE TO THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY” read;
My dear University Community,
They brought their devastation to our Giri Quarters and we are pursuing them with all it takes to recover our dearest ones they kidnapped. Our nation is definitely bleeding and this is too close home for us! Please pray hard for God’s intervention. One thing is certain, we shall continue to mobilize everything available to us to protect staff and students and ensure this NEVER happen again!

Meanwhile the university today, embarked on its 2nd semester mid-term break for the 2020/2021 academic session.
“This is to inform our esteemed students, staff and friends that the University will have its second semester Mid-Term break (2020/2021) on Thursday 4th November and Friday 5th November 2021.
We hope to see you again on Monday 8th November 2021.”
