The Deputy Governor of Abia State Rt. Hon. Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has stated that the foundation for a continuous growth of the state internally generated revenue has been laid.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, the Sir Oko Chukwu who doubles as the head of Abia Economic Team revealed that given the continued outcry and complains of multiple taxation and exuberance of touts who hitherto where involved in revenue collection, the state has deviced a more civilized way of revenue collection which has made the job seamless, civil and friendly.
According him “…there has been a remarkable improvement in our revenue base judging from what it used to be before we assumed office”.
” All that is a product of the introduction of modern technology in revenue collection and will eventually dovetail into a bountiful harvest for the state in the nearest future because of the foundation this administration is laying today”.
“As we speak, we have adopted the E-Ticketing method for all flying revenues in the state and Abia state might be only state currently using that technology”.
“Again to forestall all the previous harassments and allegations of double or multiple taxation, we have introduced the consolidated demand notice wherein all revenues needed to be paid are listed on one document, so our people won’t be be receiving various demand notices from different agents.”
“All these innovations apart from shoring up our revenue base will ensure that crude methods of revenue collection and the use of touts becomes a thing of the past in the state thereby making revenue collection seamless and stress free”.
He further charged Abians to co-operate with the Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration by paying their taxes into designated government accounts while expecting government to provide the necessary amenities they need!
