The states of Lagos and Kano and the Abuja Federal capital Territory account for 64.2 percent of the Coronavirus caseload in Nigeria, figures published by the NCDC have shown.

The three have a combined 7,173 cases out of the 11,166 total cases in Nigeria, as at Wednesday.

Lagos has 5,440 cases, Kano 970, while FCT has 763.

The other 33 states make up the remaining 36 percent.

According to NCDC’s latest figures, 315 people have died of the virus, while, 3,329 have been discharged.

There are now 7,522 active cases being treated in various isolation centres countrywide.

NCDC said Lagos has 163 of the new 348 cases. The FCT has 76 and Ebonyi 23.

Rivers registered 21 cases, Delta, Nasarawa and Niger have eight each.

Enugu has six cases, while Bauchi, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo and Gombe have five cases each.

There were four cases diagnosed in Benue, two in Ogun, and one each in Osun, Plateau, Kogi and Anambra.

The NCDC noted that 75 per cent of COVID-19 cases in the country have unknown sources of infection.

It said that this was normal for a respiratory virus and suggested ongoing community transmission in the country.
