The Federal Government of Nigeria is making plans to pay the sum of #20,000 into the account of Nigerians who have less than #5,000 in their accounts.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar, disclosed this to State House correspondents in Abuja.
According to Farouq, such persons would form part of the additional one million households approved by President Muhammadu Buhari to partake in the cash disbursement.
This Announcement comes a day after the presidential broadcast in which the president assured Nigerians that they would continue supporting them amidst the lockdown and coronavirus spread.
This initiative is what a lot of Nigerians have been waiting for since the beginning of the lockdown but it is worth noticing that not everyone would receive the conditional cash transfer as only one million individuals are targeted.
This comes after the giving of cash to over 10 million citizens who the federal government described a s the poorest households in the country.
