PRESS RELEASE: NDDC Abandoned Projects In Abia: Perpetrators Should Be Brought To Justice.
The attention of the Alex Otti Team has been drawn to a trending list of NDDC road projects in Abia allegedly abandoned by contractors who are suspected to be Abians.
First, the entire Alex Otti team and our leader, Dr. Alex Otti view it as a welcome development, the decision by the NDDC to release a comprehensive list of projects awarded in Abia by the NDDC, as this would help the federal government investigate and ascertain the level of progress or failure recorded, and also be able to hold people to account where necessary.
We also wish to lend our unflinching support to the Fact-finding Committee set up by Abia state government and Chaired by a respected Abia son, Bishop Sunday Onuoha. We are convinced that Bishop Onuoha’s transparent reputation and pedigree would rob off positively on the committee in its quest to ascertain the truth.
The Alex Otti Team as a responsible body led by a son of Abia who desires the best for the state, believes that it would be hypocritical for Abians to be calling on the Federal government to come and develop our state when our brothers and sisters who got contracts from a federal government agency (NDDC) for the development of the state, collected money meant for such projects and squandered the funds, leaving the awarded projects in a state of abandonment, at the expense of our people.
Any honest Abian who goes through the trending list would have reasons to feel provoked and insulted, because if such projects had been executed in Abia, the state would have looked better in the area of road infrastructure.
The most pathetic is the fact that, most of these projects alleged to have been abandoned are strategic community/rural roads which when executed would impact very positively on our rural dwellers who literally pass through hell to travel outside their communities and carry out their business activities.
Abians have suffered and cried enough in the hands of their supposed leaders, therefore such leaders must not be allowed to continue to get away with their atrocities.
Finally, we wish to state that, we are ready to offer the necessary support within our powers to ensure that the investigation is not politicized or stopped midway, and that the appropriate federal government agencies are brought in to ensure that those who may have contributed in the underdevelopment of Abia through project abandonment are brought to justice, for the good of Abians.
