Member representing Aba North and South in the National Assembly, Hon Ossy Prestige has commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for throwing his weight behind the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, over its regulations on state and local government joint accounts.
His commendation follows a declaration by the accountant General of the federation that the 774 local governments were at the weekend credited with allocation for the month of June
The lawmaker posited that the regulations would go a long way in addressing the mindless mismanagement of local government funds by many state governors.
Hon Prestige also expressed delight that Aba south received the highest allocation in Abia with a total of approximately 229 million naira while Aba North received approximately 136 million naira; a sum he believes will go a long way in fixing some infrastructural decay in Enyimba city
The two term lawmakers who expressed joy that the much-desired local government autonomy has come to manifestation, also used the opportunity to advice the Transition chairmen to ensure proper usage of the monies devoid of any executive interference
The lawmaker reminded the TC Chairmen that the NFIU with the backing of the eight-assembly approved laid Down checks that will ensure that any fraudulent transaction is identified
Hon Ossy Prestige also assured Aba residents that he will continue to protect their interest and bring the much desired dividends of democracy to them
