David Umahi has put pressure on CCECC to expedite repairs on the collapsed New Artisan Bridge, setting a deadline for October 2024.
On Monday, August 5, David Umahi, the Minister of Works, put some serious pressure on the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) over their slow progress on fixing the collapsed New Artisan Bridge on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Highway.
This update came through Uche Anichukwu, who’s the Senior Special Assistant on External Relations for Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah.
During a recent inspection of key federal projects in the state, Umahi made it clear that he’s been checking on the bridge situation frequently since its collapse. He mentioned that the governor had even gone to meet with the President, who then ordered immediate action on the bridge repairs.
Umahi praised CCECC for the quality and speed of their work so far, although it seems he wants things to move even faster. He’s given them a deadline of October 2024 to wrap up the project.
