For Mrs. Michael Chinyere, she took over as the Principal of School of Nursing Umuahia in 2022 when teaching and learning activities in the school was nothing to write home about. In that particular year, a set of students had 15% in their final qualifying examination, indicating the level of decay in academic performance in the institution then.
On assumption of office, Mrs Michael Chinyere carried out massive sensitisation of the academic staff of School of Nursing Umuahia. Her efforts towards surging the academic performance of the students paid off as the school in 2023, automatically moved from a set scoring 15% to two sets scoring 84.21% and 100% respectively in their examinations.
Mrs Chinyere never stopped at that, she painstakingly provided a conducive learning environment for students with a steady supply of electricity and water which were not so before she came into office as principal.
With the aid of the Abia state Government and present Director Nursing Services, the school has been upgraded from school of Nursing to collegiate level just within one year of her being in office.
Tracing back to when she was working in the Capacity of Vice principal Academics, Mrs Chinyere not minding that the then principal paid no attention to the deteriorating nature of teaching and learning in the school, single handedly taught Seven(7) courses without complaint just to ensure that her students achieve their goals in life.
This singular act and more, saw to her promotion to the level of Principal and also the Student Union Government (SUG), recognising her with an award of best principal in 2022.
Similarly, Anicho Sarah Ngozi, the principal of Okezie school of basic midwifery Abiriba, brought a rapid change to the institution of learning.
Anicho Sarah Ngozi, who holds a master of science (MSc) degree in Nursing Education from University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), took over as principal, Okezie school of basic midwifery, Abiriba in October, 2022.
