According to the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Irene Ugbo, the woman is suspected to have mental disorder.

“Investigation is on to ascertain the reason for her action. But what we heard is that she is mentally deranged,” Ugbo said.

According to reports, the mother of two used a machete to cut off her son’s head as she claimed he was disturbing her and a spirit advised her to do so.

Her 8-year-old son raised an alarm after stumbling on the scene. His scream alerted neighbors who arrived the scene. But for the timely intervention of the police, an angry mob would have lynched the suspect.
