The Coordinator of Chief Raymond Nkemdirim MFR Foundation, Mr Uche Ama-Ohakah on Tuesday 26 April held an official press conference with some journalists in Umuahia as regards the second edition of the Abia State School Quiz Competition.
The Foundation which is a non-profit and non-governmental organization with a mission summed up in “strategic community orientation actions, for good governance and sustainable development,” and sole aim to contribute her quota to the uplifting of humanity has embarked in numerous humanitarian projects with the school quiz competition being one of them.
To that effect, the Foundation has begun its second edition of the programme of the competition which will grant scholarship and other incentives to schools and students who would participate and come up tops.
The first edition which held last year had the school that came first awarded cash prize of One Million Naira (N1,000,000), the second runner, Five Hundred thousand Naira (N500,000) and third place, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (250,000), and the same cash prizes would remain the same in this second edition, along with transportation allowances for each participating schools.
Public and Private schools across the state that are interested in the competition are expected to pick their forms that are now in process and completely free from the Ministry of Education, SEMB, Through AIES and NAPPS as well as at FLO FM office 7b Factory Road, Umuahia and the quiz proper will be spaced in different dates, from 17th-26th May, 2022 for Local Levels; while Zonal Stages will hold from 31st May-2nd June, 2022. The grand finale holds on June 30, 2022.
The project which is initiated, promoted and sponsored by Ray Nkedmdirim Foundation partners with the Abia State Ministry of Education, Abia State Education Management Board (SEMB), National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Abia State Universal Basic Education Board and FLO FM 94.9 Radio Station Umuahia.
