AFNEWS reports that Nigeria’s opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has revealed that former President Goodluck Jonathan will not join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this comment while speaking on a television programme on Thursday, where he added that “there is no space in the ruling party for Jonathan.”
The PDP denied reports in some section of the Nigerian media that the former President Jonathan was plotting to join the APC in order to contest in the 2023 general elections.
PDP, according to Ologbondiyan, is not also bothered by the recent defection of Governor David Umahi to the APC.
The PDP spokesman said: “Why should we be bothered about people who are working on innuendos and are claiming they are working. Where is the action?
“Because some governors went to visit (former) President Goodluck Jonathan on his birthday, then, it is concluded that he has joined APC?
“For me, there are many things I cannot say in the public but I want to assure Nigerians that former President Goodluck Jonathan is politically savvy enough to know he has no space in the All Progressives Congress.”
