Woman in Tears, 11 Months After She Paid N155,551, IKEDC Hasn’t Delivered Meter
Esther Chikezie, a Lagos resident who paid Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) N155,551 for a prepaid meter installation 11 months ago, has got nothing.
Chikezie paid N155,551.57 in June 2023 for the Meter Assets Provider (MAP) to fit a prepaid meter in her house in Ijede-Ikorodu.
The Press confirmed that the meter had not been installed at the time of writing this report.
“I paid for the meter on June 22 last year. I paid at the Omitiho IKEDC office, and they told me that the prepaid meter would come in three weeks’ time,” Chizekie told FIJ on Monday.
“When I didn’t get the meter, I went back to the office I paid to. They told me to go to MAP (MAP being Meter Asset Providers). At MAP, they told me to go elsewhere, and they kept directing me to another location without help.
“At the moment, I’m paying for crazy bills every month. I still don’t have the prepaid meter.”

Ikeja Electric responded to FIJ’s questions on X, saying, “Kindly be informed that your complaint of delayed meter installation has been escalated to the appropriate team.”
“Please be patient, as you will be contacted by the metering team for further directives on your meter installation.
“Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused you.”
