“Abia APC Chairman Kingsley Ononogbu urges party members to resolve internal conflicts and unite for future electoral success. He emphasizes the need for unity to avoid repeating past electoral failures.”
Kingsley Ononogbu, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has called for unity among the party’s major stakeholders to overcome the disunity that contributed to their poor performance in the last general elections. Addressing a meeting of local government and ward executive committee members on Friday, Ononogbu emphasized that the party cannot achieve victory in future elections in an atmosphere of rancor.
Ononogbu reminded party members that internal strife and spreading of rumors have only led to electoral failures. He highlighted the necessity of working together to secure the majority of elective seats in Abia State in subsequent elections. The chairman announced that under his leadership, Abia APC is developing a template to bring all warring factions together until congresses are conducted, where members can make their choices and unite in the party’s interest.
“Most of our foot soldiers are the cause of the problems; they go around spreading rumors, meeting us separately, and telling us things that pitch us against one another,” Ononogbu stated. “These quarrels have not gotten us anywhere. We have to unite so we don’t lose again.”
The call for unity comes in the wake of a crisis that engulfed the Abia State chapter of the APC following the outcome of the parallel gubernatorial primary elections held by the national leadership of the party. The crisis has led to significant divisions within the party, hindering its ability to perform effectively in elections.
Ononogbu’s leadership aims to bridge these divides and foster a collaborative environment that prioritizes the party’s collective success over individual interests. By addressing the root causes of the internal conflicts and promoting a culture of unity, the Abia APC hopes to strengthen its position and perform better in future electoral contests.
The chairman’s proactive approach involves engaging with all factions and stakeholders within the party, ensuring that every member’s voice is heard and considered. This strategy is designed to build trust and solidarity, creating a more robust and cohesive party structure capable of winning elections and effectively representing the people of Abia State.
