Barely two months after his appointment, Egypt national coach, Ehab Galal has been shown the exit door by the Egyptian Football Association.
The now-dismissed Galal came in as a replacement for Carlos Queiroz who was also sacked following the Pharoah’s inability to secure a spot at the 2022 World Cup.
The 54-year-old kicked off his spell at the side with a 1-0 win over Guinea in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying before his team lost 2-0 to Ethiopia.
A 4 -1 defeat to South Korea in a friendly on Tuesday brought his stay at at the team to an untimely end.
His sack on live television came as a complete shock.
The Egyptian Football Association has said it would now be looking for a foreign coach to lead the team.
“We are in talks with several foreign coaches. I would like to thank coach Ehab Galal, a very respectful man, who has worked under some tough circumstances.
I want to apologise to him, but sometimes the pressure is too much and we saw it would be better for everyone to change.”
