A video has emerged showing the moment an elephant was caught on camera robbing passengers along the Grand trunk road in India.

AFNews reports that  in the video which was shared on the micro-blogging site, Twitter by an Indian Forest Service officer and IISC Bangalore alumnus, Parveen Kaswan, the elephant was sighted on the middle of an highway waiting for vehicles.

In the 43 seconds video sighted by AFNews, the elephant stretched his trunk into the vehicle, searching for what to take from the vehicle but could get anything easily.

Seeing that the elephant appeared desperate, the driver in a bid to distract the elephant from the main target, placed banana very close to the elephant’s trunk and the animal took it and moved away frm the vehicle.

Parveen Kaswan who shared the video, captioned it: “Daylight robbery on a highway. A forward.”

The continued: “On a serious note this is why you see ‘Do not feed wild animals’ board near forest area. They become habitual of new taste. And keep coming to road & near human. This is not helpful to them in long run. Though possibly this is not related with this video.”

Meanwhile, the Grand Trunk Road formerly known as Uttarapath, Sarak-e-Azam, Badshahi Sarak, Sarak-e-Sher Shah is one of Asia’s oldest and longest major roads. The road links Central Asia to the Indian subcontinent.
