The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, has directed the transfer of 10 year old house girl, Ifunanya to Abuja for further medical attention and possible reconstruction surgery.
ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, had reported that Ifunanya was forced to drink hot water by her guardian in Umuahia, one Mrs Esther Orjiugo Zazi Kelechi David, for allegedly breaking a plate. She had meted other forms of violence and maltreatment on the girl before help came her way.
Current diagnosis reveal that little Ifunanya has Oesophageal and Pyloric Stenosis, that means there has been extensive damage to her oesophagus and stomach making it difficult for solid food to pass through, except fluids.
Investigations also revealed that the young girl was serially abused and brutalized by the woman, leaving many injuries including a broken collar-bone, which was sustained when her guardian allegedly threw her down on the ground and viciously stepped on her neck, shoulder, and chest.
Meanwhile, the case between Abia State Government and the police versus Mrs. Esther Orjiugo Zazi Kelechi David (the guardian), came up yesterday, Thursday, September 16, at the State High Court Umuahia, before Justice KCJ Okereke for consideration on a bail application.
The Abia State Director of public prosecutions, Mrs. Ngozi Obioma appeared for the prosecution while Barr. Chilaka Anyanwu appeared for the defendant, Mrs. Esther Zazi David.
After submissions and arguments for and against bail by both sides, Justice KCJ Okereke adjourned sitting to September 30, 2021 for ruling on the bail application.
