Sports and youths development have received great boost ever since Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, assumed his seat as the Lawmaker representing Arochukwu State Constituency.
In this regard, his office has been able to rally round our youths and engaged them to as a matter of fact, compete among themselves in football as a way of promoting health and physical education.
The Ukoha Unity Cup Competition was first organised in 2021, with teams drawn from Arochukwu, Abam, Ihechiowa, Ututu and Isu communities.
During the event, various teams competed in various group stages leading to the semi final, quarter final and the finals.
In the first competition, Arochukwu team defeated Ututu team to lift the trophy.
The Second edition of Ukoha Unity Cup Competition is ongoing for the year 2023. As to be noted for, Arochukwu team and Ututu team, will be competing for third (3rd), position in the ongoing competition on Saturday 11th February, 2023, while Abam and Ihechiowa, will slug it out on Sunday 12th February, 2023, for the first position.
The competition so far, has been promising, thrilling and scintillating.
Hon. Ukoha, has succeeded in bringing youths of Arochukwu LGA together through football to speak with one voice and thanked him for organising such wonderful event for the second time.
Also, the Lawmaker in his wisdom, is partnering with Aro’s in the diaspora in sporting activities and other youths empowerment programme. Together, we can build a formidable team that can compete favorably with other prominent teams outside Arochukwu LGA. May we never miss it.
