Every done deal as early summer transfer window closes ahead of FIFA Club World Cup – including Rayan Cherki and Jobe Bellingham
With the summer transfer window split into two phases to allow teams to sign players before the FIFA Club World Cup, there has been plenty of early activity around the market. The transfer window opened on June 1 and has now closed until June 16, but Premier League sides in particular have been busy recruiting. Here are the most notable signings from around Europe.
And just like that, the early transfer window is closed – but not before plenty of teams made some big moves.
Unusually, this year the summer transfer window was split in two to allow teams playing in the FIFA Club World Cup to make signings before the beginning of the tournament.
It opened for nine days – starting on Sunday, June 1 – and will resume on Monday, June 16, until it closes at 19:00 BST on September 1.
There has already been plenty of activity as clubs look to strengthen their squads for the 2025/26 campaign.
The two Manchester powerhouses have been busy recruiting, but Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans were put on pause as they search for a new manager following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
Elsewhere, Chelsea won the race to sign one of the Premier League’s most in-demand strikers, while Premier League champions Liverpool are close to bolstering their ranks in a number of positions.
Here are all the biggest done deals involving Premier League clubs now that the early window is shut.
Matheus Cunha to Manchester United (£62.5m)
This move was reported before United lost the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham, and that disappointing night in Bilbao clearly was not enough to put the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star off a move to Old Trafford.
It was completed on June 1 after the Brazilian forward’s release clause was met.
Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City (£31m)
Ait-Nouri was another player to swap Wolves for Manchester. The left-back was Pep Guardiola’s first signing of the window.
Rayan Cherki to Manchester City (£30.5m)
From one Rayan to another. The Lyon playmaker is considered one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, and he will also link up with Guardiola after agreeing a move to Etihad Stadium.
Liam Delap to Chelsea (£30m)
Despite Ipswich Town’s relegation back to the Championship, Delap impressed and attracted plenty of reported interest. However, it was Enzo Maresca and Chelsea that secured Delap’s signature on a six-year deal.
Mamadou Sarr to Chelsea (£12m)
Chelsea also have a new centre-back in the form of 19-year-old Sarr, who has joined from Strasbourg.
Dario Essugo to Chelsea (£18m)
Essugo, a 20-year-old holding midfielder, will play in the blue of Chelsea next season after signing from Sporting CP in a deal that runs until 2033.
Jobe Bellingham to Borussia Dortmund (£27m)
There is once again a Bellingham at Dortmund. After Jude’s successful stint in the Bundesliga, his 19-year-old brother Jobe has decided to follow in his footsteps, making the move after helping Sunderland earn promotion to the Premier League.
Tom Watson to Brighton & Hove Albion (£10m)
Scorer of Sunderland’s stoppage-time winner in their Championship play-off final against Sheffield United, the teenage winger signed a four-year contract with The Seagulls a week later.
Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford (£12.5m)
The Liverpool goalkeeper has joined The Bees on a five-year contract, replacing Mark Flekken, who left for Bayer Leverkusen in an £8m deal.
Antonio Cordero to Newcastle (Undisclosed)
The Magpies have confirmed they will sign the Spanish winger on July 1 when his contract with Malaga is up.
Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid (£10m)
Following months of speculation, the two-time Premier League winner moved to Real Madrid before the expiry of his contract, in order to be available to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid (£50m)
Bournemouth’s young defender moved to Real Madrid, who broke their record fee for a defender to secure his services. The 20-year-old Spain international will wear the No. 24 at his new club.
