BREAKING: UK Prime Minister, Liz Truss Resigns After Six Weeks | READ WHY

The United Kingdom (UK)’s third female Prime Minister, Liz Truss has resigned just six weeks after taking over from Boris Johnson.

Truss while announcing her resignation on Thursday, October 20, 2022, said she can no longer deliver the mandate on which she was elected by the conservative party.

She however hinted that she will remain in office until her successor is elected by the end of next week.
In her words;

“I recognise that given the situation I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party. I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to notify him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party.”
