Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has charged authorities of Abia State Security Fund to work assiduously to ensure that Abia residents above the age of 18 obtain the Security Support and Resident Card for effective planning of Government’s programme.
Sir. Ude Oko Chukwu who gave the charge after receiving his own Security Support and Resident Card during a courtesy visit by Officials of Abia State Security Fund in his office, Government House, Umuahia said it is mandatory for every resident of the State to obtain the card as it will provide Government with the necessary data for planning purposes such as addressing unemployment and infrastructural development issues among others.
The Deputy Governor, Ude Oko Chukwu described the issuance of Security Support and Resident Cards as very timely as it will not only identify genuine residents of the State, but cushion the worrisome effect of the security situation across the country and help ensure that Abia remain one of the safest States to reside and do business in.
He congratulated the State Coordinator, Abia State Security Fund and Management for realizing the dream and appealed to residents in the State to present themselves for capturing so that the essence of the exercise will be realized.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Chief Sopuruchi Bekee said the ministry is doing their best to ensure that Abia remain one of the safest State, through the operations of the Homeland Security Watch and the recently launched Ebube Agu Security Network and other Security Outfits.
Earlier in his speech, the Coordinator, Abia State Security Fund Chief Darlington Anyanwu who said they security Support and Resident card which has an approval from CBN Regulatory Board is a credible data base to identify Abia residents, having discovered that 80 percentage of crimes experience in the State are committed by infiltrators pointing out that obtaining the card is free as Government has absolved the cost of production.
