SACRILEGE: Popular Palm Wine Tapper Commits Suicide In Abia | SEE DETAILS/PHOTOS

A popular palm wine tapper in his 30’s, has committed suicide in Abia state.

The young man, Chinwendu Benson, a native of Umuode, Umuosu Nsulu in Isialangwa North Local Government Area, committed suicide in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased, popularly known as Igwe, the palm wine tapper, was found hanging on a tall tree in the bush.

Residents of the area seem not to know what might have led to him committing suicide.

As at the time AF-NEWS arrived the scene, his body was still dangling on the tree.

In Igbo land, committing suicide is sacrilegious, and requires certain traditional rites to be performed before anyone who committed suicide will be brought down and buried.
