Afnews also observed that businesses in that area are crawling and some of the residents are displaced as majority of the buildings were demolished by the Abia state government who had promised to fix the road.

Inquiry made by AFNEWS team on ground has it that the Abia state government failed to compensate owners of the affected buildings.

Addressing news men after the inspection, the Special adviser on media to Dr. Alex Otti, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma noted that Port Harcourt road Aba is of vital importance to his principal because it affects millions of Abians who have unfortunately abandoned their properties and businesses owing to the bad road condition and flooding.

“This is a very legendary road . It is a road that is of strategic importance to our people, that is why Dr Alex Otti is prioritizing it and would start with it first” Ekeoma said

He restated Otti’s commitment to engage professional constructors in fixing Abia roads so as to stand the test of time.

“Dr Alex Otti will use grade A constructors to fix Abia roads to meet the required standard and also beat the test of time” Ekeoma assured.

He added that;“The bad Port Harcourt road Aba is a tragedy that has befallen Abians. In weeks, work will start; no contract would be awarded in secret”.

Speaking earlier to AFNEWS, one of the residents, Mr Godswill Okeke-Ama lamented on the plight of the people living in that area, noting that landlords are now forced to rent their apartments as low as seven thousand naira as majority have already migrated to other areas.

“Some flats are rented for N7,000 now because people are scared of flood and bad road.” He called on Dr Alex Otti to fix the road as he promised to bring joy to the people.”
