The Abia State Online Media Practitioners, an umbrella body of OMPAN, has frowned at the arrest of their Chairman, Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo by the State Police Command.
Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo was arrested by men of the Nigerian Police on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, around his office at Item Street Umuahia.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary of Abia Online Media Practitioners, Izuchukwu Nwokoma, the Organization questioned why the Abia Police Command will unleash its men on law abiding citizens, adding that its Chairman is a responsible Abian cum Nigerian who has sued for peace in the country.
In the Statement, Abia Online Media Practitioners decried the rate at which law abiding citizens are arrested almost on daily basis, without cogent reasons. They called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the State Police Commissioner, to ensure that Nwankwo is released unconditionally.
