After Our Story, Polaris Reverses Lagos Woman’s Money Held for Months

Polaris Bank has refunded N15,100 to a Lagos-based businesswoman, five months after she was debited for an undelivered electricity token.

The bank reversed the woman’s money on Friday, one day after Our reported that the woman had neither got value nor a reversal since December 2023, when she made the transfer.

While giving the Press  an update during the weekend, the businesswoman wrote, “Polaris Bank has refunded me. Thank you so much.”

The reversed money

The businesswoman had earlier shared documents showing that she sent N15,100 from her Polaris Bank business account to Quicketeller for an electricity token on December 20, 2023. She would, however, not receive the token nor get a reversal.

Documents revealed that Quickteller confirmed that the transaction failed and, as such, initiated a refund process. On January 21, 2024, Quickteller sent an email informing her that the money had been reversed.

She was then advised to follow up with Polaris Bank. When she reached out in January, the bank revealed that her request had been channeled appropriately. It would, however, be a long wait, as her efforts to get an update regarding the reversal would be futile.

When the Press learned about the situation, our reporter sent an email to Polaris Bank on Monday, March 13. Although the bank promised to provide feedback within 72 working hours, it never did.

the Press then published a report on the matter on Thursday, after the 72 working hours had elapsed. The bank refunded the customer one day after the report was published.
