Renowned cleric and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has opened up on a harrowing health crisis that nearly cost him his life during an evangelism program seven years ago.
Speaking at the annual Special Holy Ghost Service themed “Joy Unspeakable,” Pastor Adeboye shared his testimony of how he collapsed in Ilesha due to extreme exhaustion caused by the terrible road conditions. He recounted how his body completely broke down, forcing him to be airlifted to the Redemption Camp for the program.
‘The Devil Thought He Had Me’ – Pastor Adeboye’s Ordeal
The revered cleric recalled that for the first time in his life, he spent Christmas bedridden, unable to celebrate the festive season with his loved ones.
“Seven years ago, during this same program, my body broke down completely due to the terrible road conditions,” he revealed.
“For the first time in my life, I spent Christmas Day in bed. The devil was certain he had finally got me.”
He further explained that a helicopter had to be chartered to fly him back to the RCCG camp because he was too weak to endure a road journey.
“I collapsed in Ilesha, and to bring me back to the camp, we had to charter a helicopter. I was too weak to travel by road—if I had, I would not have made it.”
However, the situation took another dramatic turn when some individuals attempted to prevent the helicopter from taking off, resulting in damage to one of its windows.
Adeboye: ‘Seven Years Later, I Am Still Here!’
Despite the life-threatening experience, Pastor Adeboye expressed gratitude to God for sparing his life.
“Seven years later, I am still here! I want you to thank God for sparing my life,” he declared, urging the congregation to join him in giving thanks.
His testimony has since sparked reactions across the Christian community, with many expressing awe at the resilience and divine protection over the revered cleric’s life.
