Youths of Abia State under the aegis of Abia Youths for Good Governance, has countered an allegation that the Executive Governor of the state, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, is using state funds to sponsor the presidential litigation of Mr Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Addressing the media in Umuahia on Monday, Abia Youths for Good Governance, led by Hon. The group passed a vote of confidence on governor Alex Otti, noting that as a knowledgeable economist and financial manager, he could not have attempted to use the scarce resources of Abia state to fund a presidential election litigation.
“Though we understand that this group (Abia Youth Interest group) is made up of some jobless and frustrated youths who are victims of bad leadership, we are however appalled that they chose to allow themselves to be used to advance a vicious and dubious agenda geared towards the destabilisation of Abia state in pursuit of filthy liquor.”
“Abia state was looted and plunged into bankruptcy by the previous PDP Government, hence, governor Alex Otti, a knowledgeable economist and notable financial manager could not have attempted to use the scarce Abia resources to fund a presidential election litigation, when our parents are beginning to smile again as a result of his intervention to clear salary and pension arrears” the group stated.
Abia Youths for Good Governance also noted that governor Alex Otti’s emergence, represents the will of the people, adding that “no anti-Democratic forces can steal the peoples mandate especially at this point in time when hope and great opportunities stare us in the face as Abia youths”.
The youths warned that they will no longer sit and watch “politicians who had wrecked Abia state”, connive with internal and external enemies of the state to plant seeds of hatred and violence to bring Abia state down.
“We would no longer sit idly and watch politicians who had wrecked the state and who were properly defeated in the 2023 election, attempt to connive with enemies of the state and outside forces to stoke the embers of hate, violence an destruction geared towards holding us perpetually down. We would rise and resist these aggressors and their unprovoked aggression” the youths vowed.
