Gov. Otti Has Never Rendered Any Financial Help To Peter Obi – LP Chairman, Igara Refutes Allegation
The Chairman, Council of Labour Party Chairmen, Mr Ceekay Igara, has said that the allegation that governor Alex Otti is using Abia state fund to sponsor the litigation of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, is only the imagination of the peddlers.
Igara who doubles as the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, while speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS) on Tuesday stated that the Abia Youth Interest group, who made the allegation, lacks knowledge of the person of Mr Peter Obi, adding that Otti has never rendered any financial help to Peter Obi.
He noted that Obi whose integrity would not allow him let anyone stain his reputation, has been sponsoring his litigation independently without seeking help from either governor Alex Otti nor the party’s other elected members.
“As the chairman of the council of Labour Party chairmen, I have an idea how tribunal goes; I have an idea of who his Excellency, Mr Peter Obi is. Before now, he has been doing his things independently, he doesn’t consult any of the state, any of our candidates apart from the national chairman.
“Peter Obi is so comfortable. He is not somebody who would put anybody under pressure to do something for him. He has integrity”.
“That shows the lack of knowledge of those who are accusing his Excellency Dr Alex Otti. If they know that Peter Obi is somebody who wouldn’t want anything that would stain his name, there is no way they would have brought Peter Obi and Dr Alex Otti into that their kind of allegation.
“There have not been anytime Dr Alex Otti thought about supporting Peter Obi financially. He may give him advises because he is his presidential candidate. Peter Obi is such a comfortable person that even if after the Supreme court he wants to go to the world court, Peter Obi has the capacity to fund it himself” Ceekay Igara clarified.
Reacting to the claims by the group that Otti retrenched about 10,000 workers so that he can sponsor Obi’s litigation, the Chairman said;
“it is infantile allegation. It is common knowledge that when His Excellency said he was retrenching those people, he said it is because they were over bloated membership of the staff and he said in the fullness of time, his government will employ those that should be employed”.
He charged Abians not to listen to purveyors of unfounded claims but support the administration of governor Alex Otti to deliver the dividends of democracy for the people.
“Abia state government is still working hard to conserve money to pay the arrears of salaries, gratuities and pensions, even the deficit of infrastructure in the state require quantum of resources to fix them. So on what premix would he be supporting the tribunal? Igara queried.
