OPINION: Why Alex Otti Quit Every Banker’s Dream Job Of CEO

Concluding his three part widely read articles captioned “I Don’t Do Politics ” published in his Thisday Column “Outside The Box” in 2016, Dr. Alex Otti quoted Eugen Bertolt Fredrich Brecht (1898-1956) who said:

“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate. He hears nothing, sees nothing, and takes no part in political life. He doesn’t seem to know that the cost of living, the price of beans, of flour, of rent, of medicines, all depend on political decisions. He even prides himself on his political ignorance, sticks out his chest and says he hates politics. The imbecile doesn’t know that from his political non-participation, comes the prostitute, the abandoned child, the robber and, worst of all, corrupt officials, the lackeys of exploitative multinational corporations”.

The leadership rot ravaging Abia is a creation of our docile attitude, our insensitivity, our nonchalance, our cowardly disposition to confronting those responsible for the destruction of our state, and our failure to understand the place and importance of politics in human life.

Politicians (Bad Leaders) are responsible for kidnapping, for thuggery, for unemployment, for banditry, for underdevelopment of our communities, for rural urban migration etc.

When you alienate yourself from politics they feel so excited because it gives them the freedom to unleash their anti people cruelty unchallenged and destroy everything that makes your life worth living.

Politicians are responsible for the stealing of the oil wealth of Ukwa land and destruction of the place. They are responsible for the underdevelopment of Umuahia and Ohafia. They are responsible for the collapse of Aba and the creation of a chaotic atmosphere of madness there.
They are responsible for the misery of workers and the untimely deaths of pensioners.

They are responsible for the collapse of our public schools and emergence of quack academic centres.

They are responsible for the collapse of ABSUTH, Abia Poly, ASCETA, School of Health Technology Aba etc

Ask yourself, will I be able to survive if I should have a serious health emergency in Aba today? Which public hospital will I be taken to?

The above listed problems were the reasons Alex Otti voluntarily quit every banker’s dream job of CEO to play his part in getting Abia out of this mess so that posterity could be kind to him.
Alex Otti’s courage, commitment, consistency and tenacity should be an inspiration to all of us who genuinely desire a better and prosperous Abia, so let’s beat our chest and say; if Alex Otti could make such huge sacrifice because of his understanding of what politics means in the lives of our people, then we can.

Speak to your next neighbour, friends, business partners, customers, children etc and remind them that time is ripe to support and prepare to vote for Mr. Peter Obi for President, Dr. Alex Otti for governor and all other Labour Party candidates who would work with them to rebuild Abia and Nigeria.

Ndi Abia………Weep No More, Help Is On The Way.
