NFF: Pinnick Attends World Cup Draw Amid Criticism
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation,Amaju Pinnick has landed in Qatar for the World Cup Draw amid criticism.
The 51-year-old who heads the nation’s football governing body has been under public scrutiny following Nigeria’s failure in the bid to qualify for football’s biggest carnival in Qatar.
Three-time African Champions, Super Eagles fell to sport archrivals, Ghana on Tuesday after losing by away goal rule, dismissing hopes for a seventh World Cup ticket and football supremacy.
Football faithfuls and individuals from diverse walks of life have since launched an onslaught on Pinnick. Clergyman, Reverend Divine Eches who is prominent as the he Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Imo State Chapter even declared the NFF figure head’s lack of foresight led to the team’s expulsion from the race.
With the draw slated to hold today, Friday, 1st of April 2022 in Qatar’s capital city, Doha, Amaju who is also a member of the FIFA Executive Council attended alongside 2,000 guests including Nigeria’s ace, Jay Jay Okocha.
Meanwhile, 32 countries will be involved in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Twenty-nine countries are currently known and will be drawn into eight groups of four.
