A mother and child, Christiana Okonkwo, in her 60’s and Ada Joy Okonkwo aged (18), have been arrested by the Enugu state police command in connection with the mu-rder of a new born baby boy.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, preliminary investigation shows that Ada, mother of the newborn baby used a kitchen knife to st@b him to death, following the advise of her mother after she was delivered of the baby at home at Olocha-Adogba in Awgu community of Awgu Local Government Area on November 7, 2022.
The Police said the baby was taken to the hospital where doctors on duty confirmed him dead while the corpse was deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The statement added that the Commissioner of Police in Enugu state, CP Ahmed Ammani, has ordered the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Enugu to thoroughly investigate the case.
