Owing to the present economic hardship in Nigeria, accumulated with the removal of fuel subsidy, the executive governor of Abia state, Dr Alex Otti, has revealed plans to increase the wages of workers in the state civil service.
The governor while addressing Abians on Friday night during the third edition of his monthly media interaction, stated that he is already working with stakeholders to draft out measures that will improve the living condition of workers.
In his words;
“We are engaging with stakeholders to see how we can improve on the pay of civil servants in line with the present economic realities, where exchange rates have converged upwards, fuel subsidy have been removed, and inflation is going north, heading to 30%.
“We do understand that things are a bit more difficult for people. We are already working to see how we can improve on that; not just the minimum wage, also across the line and announcements to that effect will be made in due course”.
Governor Otti restated his stand on digitising services in the state, supporting Micro Small and Medium Entreprises (MSME) and bettering the lives of the entire Abians.
