JUST IN: We Will Frustrate Moves by Obi to Join Atiku in PDP – Labour Party

The Labour Party (LP) has said it will prevent its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite the ongoing crisis within the party.

National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, made this clear on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Friday.

He said that the party is actively seeking a political solution to its internal conflicts to prevent Obi from collaborating with PDP’s Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 elections.

Arabambi stated, “Politically, we will not allow the crisis to fester for long that we will now allow Mr. Peter Obi to join Atiku.”

“We knew their plans, that was why we said ‘we need to explore a political solution between ourselves,’” he added.

The LP spokesman also addressed the recent legal battle within the party, which saw an FCT High Court restrain Julius Abure and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party.

Arabambi declared that all actions taken by Abure between March 2023 and March 2024 are null and void, following a verdict by the Court of Appeal.

Recall that the Court of Appeal in Abuja later set aside the judgment of the high court, ruling in favour of Abure and the other appellants.
