Some group of Final Year Students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike have been advised to henceforth, learn to be prudent and save for the betterment of their future even as they move into the world of many possibilities.
The Publisher/Editor-in-chief of Abia Facts Newspaper Umuahia, Mr. Emenike Iroegbu who gave down the advise as a guest Speaker at the Chapel of Revelation in the Institution, harped on the need for the students to think for the future by reorganizing their lives in order to fIt in for the challenges ahead, stressing that savings remains the best way to go.
Speaking on the Theme “Money and Savings”, Mr. Iroegbu explained that money is not a physical thing but a spiritual thing, stating that for every human being, money is important, stressing that if there is no money, there will be no life. The Publisher, while advising the students to have the God kind of money which will make them happy, pointed out that it is an error for children of God to be poor.
He said that the only way to attract God’s blessings is to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, adding that just as the Bible pointed out, every other thing shall be added unto them.
Mr. Iroegbu further advised the students to learn to work hard in all they do, urging them to look at what add value to their lives and start doing it.
The Publisher who stated that education is not the certificate, but the ability to create something out of nothing, hinted that no rich man is available without saving, and advised them to learn to save.
Speaking further from a biblical injunctions from the book of Genesis 41: 34-36 and Proverb 6:6-8 hinted that as children of God, there is the need to always tap from God’s wealth, while reminding them that as they graduate, they will be challenges as to how to survive in the labour market and urged them never to relent.
Highlights during the occasion was a question and answer session from some of the students to the Guest Speaker among other interesting things.
