ABIA: Alex Otti’s Govt. Will Improve The Livelihood Of Abians – Ceekay Igara Assures
The Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Mr. Ceekay Igara, on Monday, assured Abians that the administration of the executive governor of the state, Dr. Alex Otti, will improve their entire livelihood and ensure that development gets to individuals’ doorsteps.
Igara while featuring in a radio programme, restated Otti’s promises of paying backlogs of salaries, providing basic amenities, good road infrastructure, proper education among others, adding that there will be a total overhaul of critical sectors in the state to meet the required standards.
Speaking on the governor’s order for the suspension of levies imposed on traders and transporters in the state, the state chairman who doubles as the Chairman, Council of Chairmen, Labour Party, said the move became necessary as poor Abians were being extorted by selfish individuals who impersonate the government to enrich themselves.
He frowned at the anomaly of poor traders being forced to pay levies greater than the total cost of the products they sell and profits they make in a day, adding that a large percentage of total money collected from the traders and transporters, never get into government coffers.
Igara lauded the governor for his swift move to rid Umuahia and Aba of dirts which the immediate past administration left heaped in different parts of the state, posing a threat to the health of Abians.
“Before we came in, if you come to Aba, refuse heap was in excess and it poses a threat to the health of the people” the chairman added.
He called on Abians to give the new administration their maximum support to deliver and push Abia into limelight.
