Human Rights Activist and Lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) is now the lead counsel representing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria lead a delegation of the legal team of Kanu to the trial holding today, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Federal High Court Abuja.
Briefly revealing why he is leading the legal team, Ozekhome told Vanguard that he decided to lead the team because he believes the charges against Kanu is baseless.
“Right to self determination is inalienable. It is guaranteed under both the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the African Charter on Peoples’ Rights. I am here today because I believe that the charge against the Defendant is baseless”.
Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, in previous sittings was the lead counsel of Kanu who is facing terrorism and felony charges before Justice Binta Nyako.
