.. And Why He Was Sacked as commander leading the fight against Boko Haram in 2017
Major General Ibrahim Attahiru was one time a Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole fighting insurgents in Maiduguri.
He was once a General Officer commanding 82 division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu and also a one time Director of Administration Defence Headquarters.
In 2017 he was appointed to lead the offensive against Boko Haram in the North East but was later displaced.
Nigeria’s military sacked him as commander leading the fight against militant Islamist group Boko Haram.
His redeployment to an unspecified post follows a string of attacks by the insurgents, including the killing of at least 50 people in a mosque in 2017.
No official reason was given for Maj Gen Ibrahim Attahiru’s removal at that time.
