…my stewardship as my people calls for continuity.
Dearest People of Nsit Atai,
First, let me appreciate the ‘uncreate’ but ‘create’, the almighty God for the journey so far which has been a rewarding one in our collective efforts to build a strong, reliable and a development- minded Local Government administrative system.
I sincerely thank my Boss and Benefactor, His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel and my Mother, Dr (Mrs) Martha Udom Emmanuel for the opportunity to serve my people. I thank you my dearest people of Nsit Atai for holding on to the dreams and unwavering faith of our heroes past in a bit to live the dreams by supporting the infrastructural and developmental renaissance in our Local Government Area, which our present state can’t be compared to what we had in retrospect.
It was the 40th President of America, Wilson Reagan who argued that “The future doesn’t belong to the faint-hearted but to the brave. The Challenger crew was pulling us into the future, and we’ll continue to follow them…The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives”, this has been a true stand of you all in recent times, you are brave indeed, especially when you believed and stood by me during the period of a great tempest.
This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our dear Local Government. Before I arrive at a conclusion, let me point out some of the critical areas our administration has made a resounding strides for us to know why Nsit Atai people are saying like Oliver Tweest ” We need more”.
•Infrastructure
This very aspect has been in my mind from the first day I was inaugurated as the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai LGA, owing to the fact that I happened to meet a Local Government without a deserving Council Secretariat, documents and facilities destroyed by rain, I met a council without a beffiting Traditional Rulers Council (TRC) Secretariat and other areas which demanded a retouch, but to the glory of God today we are proud to say we did it together, and it’s a sight to behold.
• Community Service
Community services requires a direct interaction with people at the grassroot to discover challenges and proffer possible solution to them. I have from the beginning of my tenure aligned closely with the important key to a progressive Local Government system, which is tie to grass root development, majorly on health, access roads, potable water etc, this by God’s grace we have recorded a landmark achievements in these areas to better the lives of our people.
• Efficiency and Motivation of Executive Council Members and workers
Before climbing the ladder of Leadership to becoming the Executive Chairman, I had carefully studied the Abraham Maslow’s position on ‘motivation’ for maximum productivity in organisation, Local Administration not excluded. Therefore, ensuring my Executive Members and council workers are motivated for greater productivity was not only a task for me but a demanding one. To say less, In my one year and few months in office, I had already provided my executive members with official Vehicles and other materials needed at their disposal for effectiveness, this was to achieve the greatest good in the administration of our Local Government, against the claims by the naysayers who are bittered by tremendous success of this administration. Infact, that was one of the reasons I wasn’t surprise when my Executive members, Councilors, the PDP, Stakeholders, NULGE with their leaders and throngs of indigenes of Nsit Atai gathered in the council secretariat on the 15th/07/2020 with drums and ceaselessly jubilate over my reinstatement without my knowledge, this was a testimony of a productive Leadership expressed in songs and dance by my people.
Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself… Our greatest primary task is to put people to work and that is my stand. There is no unsolvable problem if we face it wisely and courageously.
Together, we determined that a modern Secretariat complex, TRC Secretariat was required and we achieved it,
Together, we discovered that lifting the standard of our people was a collective task, we did it.
Together, we resolved that a great Local Government must care for the vulnerable, and protect its people from life’s threatening sickness by providing an equipped health facility, it was achieved.
Through it all, we have never relinquished our skepticism of central authority, nor have we succumbed to the fiction that all society’s ills can be cured through government alone. Our celebration of initiative and enterprise, our insistence on hard work and personal responsibility, these are constants in our character.
Yes! We made ourselves anew, and vowed to move forward together.
Greater Nsit Atai is possible.
Let’s forward for growth and prosperity.
Signed:
Hon.Emem Ibanga JP
